L'ennesimo album perduto di Neil Young, non è altro che una versione expanded di "Zuma", noto e apprezzato titolo del 1975, primo lavoro dopo la cosiddetta "trilogia del dolore", rappresentatata da "Time Fades Away", "On the Beach" e "Tonight's the Night".
 Immancabilmente presenti i Crazy Horse, con la nuova e definitiva formazione interessante il chitarrista Frank Sampedro, entrato stabilmente dopo vari tentativi con altri musicisti (George Whitsell, Greg Leroy e Rick Curtis).
Originariamente incluso nel solo formato cd in “Neil Young Archives Vol. II (1972-1976)” (che fa parte del più ampio progetto "The Neil Young Archives", inizialmente comprendente pubblicazioni d'archivio, oggi vero e proprio sito web che presenta quasi tutta la produzione discografica di Young, disponibile per lo streaming in formato audio ad alta risoluzione), questo titolo viene oggi pubblicato per la prima volta in vinile (in due versioni, una delle quali limitata), comprendendo 16 pezzi in tutto, 8 dei quali già presenti in "Zuma" (è omesso "Through My Sails", brano risalente ad una session del 1974 di Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, ultima loro testimonianza fino al 1988), e ulteriori 8 del tutto assenti nella versione originaria. Buona parte di questi ultimi, come ormai il canadese ci ha abituato da tempo, sono puntualmente presenti in album successivi dello stesso, pur in versioni differenti. 
Più nel dettaglio, "Ride My Llama", "Powderfinger" e "Pocahontas" saranno inclusi in "Rust Never Sleeps", pur in versioni dal vivo, poi inseriti in "Hitchhiker", altro long playing perduto dei '70, pubblicato soltanto nel 2017, che peraltro include anche il brano "Hawaii".
"Too Far Gone" vedrà la luce soltanto nei tardi anni '80 nell'apprezzato "Freedom", e più recentemente in "Chrome Dreams", ennesimo ghost album del Nostro datato 2023, ma risalente a metà degli anni '70.
"Born to run", "No One Seems To Know" e "Kansas" sono gli unici che non verranno inclusi in altri titoli: nel 2012, soltanto i primi due faranno parte di "Decades", versione expanded dell'antologia "Decade", mentre il terzo andrà a comporre la scaletta di "Homegrown", ancora uno di quei tanti dischi sommersi accantonato nei seventies, poi edito nel 2020.
“Nell’assemblare Dume, il disco 8 del cofanetto Archives Vol. II", riporta il comunicato stampa che accompagna l'uscita dell'album, "il piano di Young era quello di intrecciare le canzoni dell’album con brani inediti e mix di quel periodo. Dume è un po’ la versione di un Cappellaio Matto che usa l’album Zuma come punto di partenza ed espande quella portata in un’entità nuova di zecca. Ora è disponibile con il suono originale di alta qualità in cui è stato registrato, tramite nastri master analogici e vinile. Queste sedici tracce del periodo durante la registrazione di Zuma su questa stampa in vinile in edizione limitata si trasformano in una visione un po’ caleidoscopica dell’epoca, e presentano davvero un album che diventa un essere a sé stante. La freschezza delle versioni inedite di canzoni famose, insieme alle canzoni originali stesse su vinile di alta qualità appena stampato dai master analogici originali, è come un reset audio per tutto ciò che è stato raccolto. Nella carriera in continua evoluzione di Young, il passato e il futuro si fondono in un’infinita presentazione della sua vita musicale con la più alta qualità audio disponibile e in nuove collezioni che consentono una luce originale su ciò che ha realizzato finora”.
Abbiamo già detto circa la prolifica tendenza di Young a pubblicare tantissimo, troppo, materiale d'archivio - comportamento che comincia a risultare ormai fastidioso - segnatamente nella recensione di "Chrome Dreams" (i cui contenuti sono qui da intendersi integralmente ripresi), come detto un album perduto che comprendeva pezzi poi confluiti in altri titoli ufficiali, inclusi nei citati "Hitchhiker" e "Homegrown", a loro volta altrettanto perduti, anch'essi composti da brani che avrebbero trovato posto in album ufficiali.
E' un gioco delle tre carte stancante, anche ad opera dei fan più oltranzisti, questo delle versioni alternative che, slittando da un progetto ad un altro, vengono poi pubblicate più volte, documentando tutto il loro travagliato percorso di rinvii, rivisitazioni e ripensamenti. 
Per i motivi appena esposti, quest'opera è a stento consigliata ai completisti del cantante nord americano.

Yet another lost album by Neil Young, nothing more than an expanded version of "Zuma", a well-known and appreciated title from 1975, the first work after the so-called "trilogy of pain" ("Time Fades Away", "On the Beach" and "Tonight's the Night").
Crazy Horse is invariably present, with the new and definitive lineup featuring guitarist Frank Sampedro, who joined permanently the band after various attempts with other musicians (George Whitsell, Greg Leroy and Rick Curtis). Originally included in the CD format only in “Neil Young Archives Vol. II (1972-1976)” (which is part of the larger project "The Neil Young Archives", initially including archive publications, now a website featuring almost all of Young's recording production, available for streaming in high resolution audio format), this title is today released for the first time on vinyl (in two versions, one of which limited), including 16 pieces in total, 8 of which are already present in "Zuma" ("Through My Sails" is missing, a song dating back to a 1974 session by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, their last expression until 1988), and a further 8 completely absent in the original version. Most of the latter, as the Canadian has become accustomed to for some time now, are regularly present in subsequent albums in different versions.
More in detail, "Ride My Llama", "Powderfinger" and "Pocahontas" will be included in "Rust Never Sleeps", then included in "Hitchhiker", another lost long playing from the '70s, published only in 2017, which also includes the song "Hawaii".
"Too Far Gone" will be included only in the late 80s, into the appreciated "Freedom", and more recently in "Chrome Dreams", yet another ghost album dated 2023.
"Born to run", "No One Seems To Know" and "Kansas" are the only ones that will not be included in other titles: in 2012, only the first two tracks will be part of "Decades", the xpanded version of the "Decade" anthology, while the third will be included in the setlist of "Homegrown", still one of those many submerged albums set aside in the seventies, then published in 2020.
We have already mentioned Young's prolific tendency to publish a lot, too much, archive material (and it is now starting to become annoying), reviewing "Chrome Dreams", "Hitchhiker" and "Homegrown", lost albums composed by songs that would have found a place in official albums.
Publishing alternative versions which, slipping from one project to another, are then published several times, documenting their entire troubled journey made up of postponements, revisits and second thoughts, is a joke, even for the most extremist fans.
For this reasons, this work is recommended just for the completionists of the North American singer.
