I 50 anni di attività dei Kansas, che cadono proprio nell'anno corrente, vengono festeggiati dalla compilation "Another Fork In The Road - 50 Years Of Kansas", pubblicata il 9 dicembre del 2022 dalla InsideOut Music.
 Si tratta certamente della raccolta più completa della band americana, comprendo la stessa i 16 album in studio (dall'omonimo del 1974, all'ultimo "The Absence of Presence", di tre anni fa), più il live ("Two for the Show" del 1978). 
Per i completisti, si segnala la presenza di "Can I Tell You", brano in origine presente sull'esordio, qui proposto in una nuova versione suonata dalla attuale formazione (Phil Ehart, Rich Williams, Billy Greer, Ronnie Platt, Tom Brislin, Joe Deninzon). 
Entusiasta Phil Ehart (assieme a Rich Williams, il membro più anziano del gruppo): “Siamo davvero onorati dall’impegno che InsideOut Music ha messo in "Another Fork in the Road". Questo è molto più di un album di grandi successi, è la rappresentazione approfondita del tortuoso viaggio musicale in continua evoluzione dei Kansas”. 
Eppure, a dirla tutta, alcune scelte sottese alla pubblicazione di questa antologia lasciano un tantino perplessi.
In prima battuta, va rilevato che la compilation risulta castrata delle versioni originali di "Carry On Wayward Son", "Dust in the Wind" e "The Wall", in origine presenti su "Point of Know Return" e "Leftoverture", qui attinte (la prima) dal citato "Two for the Show", (le altre) da "Always Never the Same", tredicesimo album in studio prevalentemente composto da cover, suonate con l'ausilio della London Symphony Orchestra. Può far storcere il naso, questa selezione, ma non si può non considerare che, tutto sommato, i brani citati appaiono comunque valorizzati dalla dalla forza del contesto live e dalla delicatezza dettata dall'utilizzo dell'organico classico (pur in assenza di Kerry Livgren).
Ciò che è interamente da biasimare, invece, è la volontà di differenziare l'album a seconda del mercato europeo e americano, asseritamente a seguito di non meglio precisate "restrizioni di licenza": sono infatti presenti nella sola edizione destinata al vecchio continente i brani "House on Fire" e "Rainmaker" (da "In the Spirit of Things" del 1988), "Silhouettes in Disguise", "Secret Service" e "Three Pretenders" (da "Power" del 1986), "End of the Age" e "Incident on a Bridge" (da "Drastic Measures" del 1983), mentre i seguenti sono quelli destinati al solo mercato statunitense: "Fight Fire With Fire" (da "Drastic Measures" del 1983), "Curtain of Iron" (da "Audio-Visions" del 1980), "Angels Have Fallen" (da "Monolith" del 1979). Il risultato sconcerta un poco, giacché la versione americana risulta in questo modo totalmente castrata della presenza di Steve Morse, che aveva suonato in "Power" e "In The Spirit Of Things", album validissimi, pur connotati da influenze prevalentemente AOR.
